The 5 Steps of Dental Implant Surgery
Step 1: Initial Consultation & 3D Imaging
Your journey begins with a comprehensive oral evaluation and a 3D CBCT scan to evaluate jawbone structure, nerve locations, and sinus cavities. Learn details in our dental implant consultation guide.
Step 2: Implant Post Surgery
Under local anesthesia, the oral surgeon makes a small incision in the gum, creates a precise socket in the bone, and inserts the titanium implant post. A protective healing cap is placed over the implant.
Step 3: Osseointegration (Bone Healing Phase)
Over the next 3 to 6 months, the jawbone cells grow into and fuse with the microscopic surface of the titanium implant, creating an unbreakable artificial root foundation.
Step 4: Abutment Attachment
Once osseointegration is complete, a small connector piece called an abutment is attached to the top of the implant post extending above the gumline.
Step 5: Custom Crown Placement
A digital impression is taken to fabricate a custom ceramic or zirconia crown matched perfectly to your natural teeth shade and bite.
